July Touring Tips Part II

And so July is flying by.  While most of our weekends are full for the rest of the month, we do have the Hotchkiss Room available on Saturday and Sunday, 7/25 & 26.  And, the Angell Room is available Thursday and Friday, July 30 & 31.  Hopefully you’ll find something in this blog that might encourage a visit.

Lights and music on a midsummer’s eve make for a glorious garden experience at Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Park. On Friday nights in July, between 8 and 10 PM, the grounds come alive as musical artists perform a two-hour concert in the gardens. Shakespeare in the Park: EJ Cantu and Katelyn Machnica will take you through some of Shakespeare’s most well-loved works including Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and more, along with music and stage combat! The Native American Dance & Music Festival is Ganondagan’s annual summer event, running July 25th and 26th. The Festival features a wide range of Native American traditional dancers, musicians, storytellers, and artists sharing their cultural heritage, crafts and arts with festival goers. This event also features children and adult workshops, such as cornhusk doll making, cooking native foods such as fry-bread, interpreted programs in the Visitor’s Center and the Bark Longhouse, guided trail walks, and the family drum jam. A festival dedicated to all things sauerkraut! Who would have thought? Sure enough, the Phelps Sauerkraut Weekend will begin on Friday, July 31st and end Sunday, August 2nd. Highlights include the Sauerkraut Festival Parade, Cabbage Bowling, and Famous Sauerkraut Cake! Located on Route 96 between Thruway exits 43 & 42, Phelps, 14532, 315-548-8900

Interested in a casual, comedic experience? Come see Bristol Valley Theater’s performance of Black Comedy, July 23rd through 26th and July 30th thru August 2nd. With food, games, rides, and shows of all varieties, the Ontario County Fair is sure to have something for everyone! Be sure to check out the 4-H animal shows as well as antique and car exhibits.
