And so the leaves fall in the Finger Lakes… As the Innkeeper of the 1795 Acorn Inn Bed and Breakfast just outside Canandaigua, NY, it’s difficult to believe that the “busy” season is coming to a close. As I drove around this spectacular area over the past two days, I found myself more in awe than ever. They said because we are in a drought and the trees didn’t get enough water, that the leaves wouldn’t be as vibrant as in the past. Well, they were wrong. In my brief opinion (having lived in upstate New York only 12 years) the foliage is the most beautiful that I have seen. Though we usually see peak foliage around the middle of October, the leaves decided to hang in there a little longer and turn color in unison. Reds, yellows, oranges, greens and every color in between.
And so the leaves fall in the Finger Lakes…
The photos, though pretty, don’t do it justice but they will help preserve the memories of a drive around Canandaigua and Canadice Lakes with my eighty five year old mother, Margot. As an artist who’s work is displayed throughout the 1795 Acorn Inn Bed & Breakfast, it was my pleasure to see the joy and excitement on her face around almost every turn.
Until next fall…
