Concert Event Shuttle

May 24, 2017 by Innkeeper

I just learned that there is a concert event shuttle available. CMAC, Constellation Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center, has a shuttle from some local restaurants to some concert events. The shuttle will pick you up at various local restaurants. For instance, Macri’s, Simply Crepes, Greenfront or Nolans. And, it will drop you off at the VIP entrance. Parking for the venue is generally simple. However, sometimes there are lines to get into the parking lots and a little bit of a walk to the venue. General parking is around $10 and VIP is about $20.

Most noteworthy and for those that don’t already know, CMAC is a fantastic outdoor amphitheater. It’s a wonderfully small venue with great summer line ups. There are covered seats and lawn seats. As a result, and in my opinion, there is not a bad seat in the house. Well, honestly the lawn is not for me. But it certainly is full most of the time.

The shuttle is not available for all concerts. Therefore, I suggest you check their website for details. https://www.cmacevents.com/cmac-experience/

Shuttle Availability

Currently the shuttle is available for:
June 17 – Elivs Costello
July 2 – Tom Petty
July 23 – Rod Stewart and Cyndi Lauper
August 18 – Santana

Fortunately I have seen John Legend, Tim Mcgraw, Keith Urban, Kelly Clarkson, Ed Sheerhan, Hunter Hayes, Lady Antelbellum, Peter Frampton and more.

Have a great time.

One Bad Apple… A Bad tripadvisor.com Review

May 23, 2017 by Innkeeper

Well, there’s bound to be at least one bad apple in the bunch. I have often felt that tripadvisor reviews are a double-edge sword; an Innkeeper’s dream and nightmare. I have been fortunate in all these years to have wonderful reviews. I did have one bad review written some time ago and was successful in getting the guest to remove it. Her review was based on conversations between her husband and me. He did not accurately report back to her and said things that were not said. She was kind enough to remove it and it was quite the victory. I don’t imagine I will be that fortunate twice.

The issue for me with tripadvisor is that there is no one monitoring whether a review, good or bad is justified. It would be a horrific task. With so many wonderful reviews, one bad one certainly doesn’t spoil the whole bunch. Guests can tell what is valid and what is not. It’s actually good to have a bad one because then they believe the good ones more. What does hurt one’s business is the ranking. One bad review can drop your ranking significantly and it takes possibly hundreds to bring it back up. I guess I will find out. I have long thought that tripadvisor should have a mediation committee whose job isn’t to sensor reviews (free speech and all), but to determine if the complaint should affect the ranking. Here’s why…

Finger Lakes Distilleries

May 3, 2017 by Innkeeper

Just one of the many Finger Lakes Distilleries is Finger Lakes Distilling. Located about one hour and fifteen minutes from the 1795 Acorn Inn. It’s a beautiful drive around Seneca Lake with plenty to do after this tour. Hike Watkins Glen. Enjoy lunch at Dano’s Heuriger, a fabulous Austrian restaurant. Visit wineries and sample some of the areas best. Take a boat tour on Seneca Lake. Undoubtedly the list goes on. If you wanted to take the 11:00 am tour, we could arrange for an early continental breakfast. But, you should have no time enjoying our full breakfast at 9:00 and making it to the 2:00 pm tour. Don’t forget, you do need reservations.

About the 1795 Acorn Inn

If you have an interest in spirits, this would be one of many great things to do while staying at the 1795 Acorn Inn and visiting New York’s Finger Lakes Region. Personally, I love their gin.

The 1795 Acorn Inn Bed and Breakfast is a luxurious, romantic AAA Four Diamond Lodging located in New York’s Finger Lakes. We are just a few minutes outside of Canandaigua. The Inn is the only Bed and Breakfast in New York to received this prestigious award for 22 consecutive years. According to AAA, “Four Diamond establishments are upscale in all areas. Accommodations are progressively more refined and stylish. The physical attributes reflect an obvious enhanced level of quality throughout. The fundamental hallmarks at this level include an extensive array of amenities combined with a high degree of hospitality, service, and attention to detail.”

Stay with us and don’t forget to schedule an in-room massage in our Hotchkiss Room, Bristol or Barn Suites. Chair massages are now available in all rooms. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you soon.
