Canandaigua Events

July 31, 2018 by Innkeeper

You may be wondering what Canandaigua Events may be coming up in the near future. Well, there are many. Some have passed and some of your innkeeper’s favorites are yet to come. Arts at the Garden. Ring of Fire. Naples Grape Festival. Those are just a few. But we will focus on Art at the Garden for the time being.

Canandaigua Events – Arts at the Garden

This is one of your Innkeeper’s favorite events in Canandaigua and something I attend on a regular basis. Wonderful artists share their talent on the lawn at Sonnenberg Gardens and Mansion. There is music, food and of course… beverages. Definitely wine. Probably beer. Perhaps even a spirit or two. Arts at the Gardens takes place August 18th and 19th. It’s the perfect time to tour the Mansion and stroll through the gardens.

FLX Table Restaurant

June 23, 2017 by Innkeeper

“Geneva restaurant FLX Table has bested big-city competition to be named the country’s best new restaurant, ” according to the USA Today 10Best Reader’s Choice poll. Now that is quite an honor. Not too long ago I was honored to enjoy a lovely meal at the FLX Table restaurant in the Finger Lakes. FLX Table, located in a cool building in downtown Geneva, is only a 30 minute drive from the 1795 Acorn Inn Bed and Breakfast and has a 5:45 pm seating and an 8:15 pm seating.

What to expect at the FLX Table restaurant…

Upon entering the restaurant your party is checked in and you are welcome to enjoy a glass of wine, beer or champagne while waiting for other guests to arrive. Once everyone has arrived, you are escorted into the other room and shown your seat at the only table in the restaurant.  The kitchen is also in the same room.  You really do feel like you are in a special place.  Sound interesting?

August 2016 Riesling Festival Canandaigua, NY

August 8, 2016 by Innkeeper

August 2016 Riesling Festival Canandaigua, NY –  Deb & Bill & Cathy & Kurt grape stompin’ at the Riesling Festival in Canandaigua, New York. So much fun. Wine. Beer. Food trucks galore. And so much more. There’s always next year…

August 2016 Riesling Festival Canandaigua, NY

Riesling Festival

Deb & Bill & Cathy & Kurt grape stompin’.

Update – 2018 – Sadly the New York State Riesling Festival is on a hiatus. For eight years, it was known as the Finger Lakes Riesling Festival. Last year it was called the New York State Wine Festival. As of 2018, the annual summertime wine event that drew thousands to Canandaigua is no more — at least for now.

Produced by marketing communications agency Dixon Schwabl, the festival was a fundraiser for the Canandaigua YMCA and the New York Wine and Culinary Center, now called New York Kitchen. Agency employees volunteered their time at the event, which raised more than $300,000 in all.

The agency decided to “press the pause button, at least for this year,” Dixon Schwabl CEO Lauren Dixon said.

She noted that in the past nine years, the number of wine festivals has grown and the area has become saturated. Producing the festival required a substantial amount of manpower.

The Bad News – The Riesling Festival is on hiatus this year. The Good News – There are others.
